September 10, 2024 - Turkiye, Istanbul

Kurdish journalist Nurcan Yalçın faces up to 10 years in prison on bogus terrorism financing charges for allegedly sending small amounts of money to two inmates, including her friend and fellow journalist Kibriye Evren.

This is yet another misuse of anti-terror laws to target Kurdish reporters.

Women Press Freedom denounces this unjust investigation and demands charges be dropped.
