Colombia: The Bogotá Circle of Journalists’ President Suspended Over Sexual Harassment of Cielo Reyes

September 9, 2024 - Colombia, Bogotá

Women Press Freedom stands in solidarity with journalist Cielo Reyes and supports her decision to pursue legal recourse against Víctor Hugo Lucero, the incumbent president of The Bogotá Circle of Journalists (CPB), for sexually harassing her.

After an investigation by the CPB Disciplinary Commission, Lucero has been suspended for nine months. The Commission also suspended prosecutor Clara López de Medina and vice president José María Bolaños for three months each for failing to address the reported misconduct.

We demand justice for Reyes and call for Lucero to be terminated and held responsible for his behavior.
