China: Gao Yu, 80, Left Without Emergency Access as Beijing Cuts Communication Lines

August 27, 2024 - China

Veteran journalist Gao Yu, known for her critical reporting on the Chinese Communist Party, has been silenced as authorities cut off her internet, landline, and mobile phone access.

At 80 years old, Gao Yu is left without basic emergency services.

This is a direct attack on press freedom and an attempt to silence dissenting voices. Women Press Freedom stands with Gao Yu and demands her communication rights be immediately restored.
