Albania: WPF Urges Authorities to Act After Lorena Resulaj’s Assault by Mayor's Team

November 20, 2024 - Albania, Roskovec

Women Press Freedom strongly condemns the attack on Lorena Resulaj, who was physically assaulted while questioning Roskovec Mayor Majlinda Bufi. Shocking footage shows municipal staff forcibly removing the Piranjat reporter as the mayor looked on.

Resulaj called the incident a blatant attempt to silence her and obstruct her investigative work, stating that there is a broader pattern of hostility toward journalism in Roskovec. She has filed a complaint with local police, and the case has been referred to the prosecutor’s office.

We demand swift action from authorities and a public apology from Mayor Bufi. Attacks on journalists must not be tolerated.
