Venezuela: WPF Calls for Immediate Release of Ana Carolina Guaita Amid Bogus Terrorism Charges

November 11, 2024 - Venezuela

Jailed journalist Ana Carolina Guaita faces trial for terrorism, inciting hatred, and obstructing public roads. In detention since August, she could face over a decade in prison if convicted on these bogus charges.

This retaliation follows her coverage of post-election protests. Arrested by state security officials in front of her home, her detention also appears aimed at pressuring her mother, an opposition leader, to surrender.

Women Press Freedom denounces these baseless charges and the political nature of her detention. We demand her immediate release.
