Serbia: Women Press Freedom Denounces Attack on Žaklina Tatalović and N1 Crew Amid Protests in Novi Sad

November 5, 2024 - Serbia, Novi Sad

Women Press Freedom condemns the attack on N1 journalist Žaklina Tatalović and cameraman Nikola Popović, who were harassed and assaulted while covering protests in Novi Sad over a deadly railway collapse.

They endured sexist insults and physical violence, leaving Popović’s camera damaged. Despite a strong police presence, no officers intervened. We are deeply alarmed by the state of press freedom in Serbia and demand a full investigation. Violence against journalists must not be tolerated or left unpunished.
