Iran: Women Press Freedom Condemns the Denial of Critical Medical Care to Nobel Laureate Narges Mohammadi for Cancer Diagnosis Confirmation

November 4, 2024 - Iran, Tehran

Women Press Freedom strongly condemns the egregious violation of human rights faced by imprisoned journalist and Nobel Laureate Narges Mohammadi. The Iranian regime's actions, particularly the denial of critical medical care and the withholding of necessary surgeries to confirm a cancer diagnosis., amount to a deliberate attempt to endanger her life and silence her vital voice in the fight for human rights and women's rights.

The threats to Mohammadi's health, exacerbated by years of imprisonment and solitary confinement, as documented by Women Press Freedom, are unacceptable and must not be tolerated. We stand in solidarity with her and her family, calling for immediate action to ensure her access to the medical treatment she urgently requires.

Women Press Freedom demands the immediate release of Narges Mohammadi and demands that her right to health and safety be prioritized. We urge the international community to amplify their voices in support of Mohammadi and all journalists who face persecution for their commitment to truth and justice.
