Russia: Kremlin Crackdown Continues, Arrest Warrant Issued for France 24’s Catherine Norris Trent

November 26, 2024 - Russia, Kursk

Court issues an arrest warrant for France 24 journalist Catherine Norris Trent, accusing her of “illegally entering” Kursk while reporting on Ukraine’s summer incursion.

She joins other foreign journalists targeted, including reporters from CNN, RAI, and Deutsche Welle. This crackdown aims to silence critical war reporting and intimidate those exposing Russia’s vulnerabilities.

Women Press Freedom condemns these baseless accusations and stands with Catherine and all journalists targeted by the Kremlin. War reporting must not be dictated by Russia’s aggressive actions against the press.

We stand with those documenting the conflict from the frontlines, braving both battlefield dangers and transnational harassment from Russia.
