Poland: PiS Party Edits Maria Stepan’s Quotes to Fit Political Narrative, WPF Denounces Manipulation

October 12, 2024 - Poland, Przysucha

Opposition party Law and Justice (PiS) used footage of journalists like Kanał Zero’s Maria Stepan in a political ad, distorting their statements to push a political agenda. Stepan’s flood report was misrepresented, with her quote, "Why didn’t you warn us?" edited alongside Prime Minister Tusk’s "no reason to panic" remark.

Women Press Freedom condemns this manipulation, which undermines press freedom and damages journalists' credibility. Political parties must respect journalism and stop exploiting media for propaganda.
