Israel/Palestine: Women Press Freedom Welcomes Release of Palestinian Journalist Asmaa Harish From Israeli Detention

October 2, 2024 - Israel/Palestine, Haifa

Women Press Freedom welcomes the release of Palestinian journalist Asmaa Harish from Israeli detention at Damon Prison. Harish endured six months of administrative detention without being formally charged or given a trial and subjected to mistreatment and abuse.

Israel currently detains 96 Palestinian women, including 27 under administrative detention and six imprisoned women journalists. While Harish's release is a positive move, we demand Israel free all unjustly detained journalists.
