North Macedonia: Sonja Kolevska-Delevska Disrupted by MP During National Security Briefing

November 12, 2024 - North Macedonia, Skopje

On November 12, 2024, Sonja Kolevska-Delevska, of online outlet I Want to Say, was obstructed in Parliament while questioning the Director of the National Security Agency, Bojan Hristovski.

MP Dragan Kovački interrupted the journalist multiple times, accusing her of recording the event with her phone. This disruption hindered her ability to perform her duties and raised concerns about the treatment of journalists by elected officials.

Women Press Freedom strongly denounces the MP Kovački’s attempt to interfere and disrupt Sonja Kolevska-Delevska. We call on the Assembly and relevant authorities to address this incident and ensure that journalists, especially women, are protected against interference and hostility in their work.
