Mexico: WPF Calls for Urgent Action After Heinous Threats Against Journalist Yohali Reséndiz

November 28, 2024 - Mexico

Journalist Yohali Reséndiz received chilling death threats and sexual violence via WhatsApp, including a video of a corpse and calls threatening to rape and dismember her. These attacks follow her investigations into corruption in Morelos.

Yohali’s case underscores the urgent need for protections so women journalists can work free from violence or fear.

Women Press Freedom condemns this horrific attack. We urge the Mexican Government to conduct a full, gender-sensitive investigation into the threats and bring those responsible to justice swiftly. Immediate steps must be taken to guarantee Yohali’s safety.
