Gaza: Israeli Airstrike Kills Journalist Eman El Shanti and Family

December 11, 2024 - Gaza, Gaza City

Israeli airstrike kills Palestinian journalist Eman El Shanti, along with her husband and three sons. Eman, a presenter at Al-Aqsa Radio, died when an airstrike targeted her home in Gaza City's Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Her death brings the toll of women journalists killed in conflict since Oct 2023 to 26.

Israel's attacks on civilians and journalists must stop.

Women Press Freedom demands accountability for those targeting the press and urgent protection for journalists covering the conflict in Gaza. The ICC must investigate the killings of all journalists. We offer our deepest sympathies to the relatives and loved ones of Eman Shanti and her family.
