France: Three Women Reporters Attacked While Covering Fatal Stabbing

January 11, 2025 - France, Evreux

Women Press Freedom denounces the targeting of three women journalists who were attacked while covering the tragic stabbing death of a 14-year-old teenager in Evreux. Two journalists from BFMTV and one from M6 were assaulted by passers-by during live coverage of the incident.

The attacks occurred outside a police station, enabling prompt police intervention. The BFMTV journalists sustained minor injuries and were treated at the emergency room but did not require hospitalization.

The assault on reporters working to inform the public about a tragic event cannot be tolerated. Women Press Freedom strongly condemns this aggression and calls on French authorities to hold the perpetrators accountable. Journalists must be able to work without fear of physical harm.
