Belarus: Court Upholds 10-Year Conviction of Exiled Journalist Hanna Liubakova

October 10, 2024 - Belarus, Minsk

Belarus’ Supreme Court has upheld a 10-year sentence in absentia for exiled journalist Hanna Liubakova on baseless charges of "seizing power" and "extremism"—a clear act of transnational repression.

Lukashenko's regime continues to target exiled journalists while suffocating free expression and imprisoning media workers within the country. Belarus is working to silence dissent both at home and abroad.

Women Press Freedom denounces this absurd conviction and demands an immediate end to the regime's persecution of journalists and activists.
