Russia: Ban on 24 US Journalists a “Cynical” Effort to Suppress Reporting on Ukraine War

August 29, 2024 -Russia, Moscow

The Kremlin bans 92 US citizens from entering the country, including 24 journalists from publications such as the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, and the New York Times.

The Russian Foreign Ministry cites the "Russophobic course" of the Biden administration as the reason for these sanctions.

Women Press Freedom condemns this as yet another cynical attempt to intimidate and silence the press. Adding critical journalists to block lists is a deliberate effort to suppress reporting on Russia, its aggressive war in Ukraine, and its stifling of dissent within the country.
