Azerbaijan: Aytaj Tapdyg and Khayala Agaeva Detained at COP29 Protest

November 15, 2024 - Azerbaijan, Baku

Journalists Aytaj Tapdyg and Khayala Agaeva were briefly detained & forcibly removed while covering a COP29 protest in Baku. Their phones were confiscated as they filmed the demonstration against street dog killings.

Women Press Freedom condemns ongoing state pressure on journalists and activists. We demand Azerbaijan authorities respect the press' right to report and the people’s right to protest. The aggressive crackdown on dissent must end.
