The Coalition For Women In Journalism vehemently condemns the rape attempt and physical assault against TV presenter Anastaisha Lygova who works for Ukrainian TV channel Inter. Anastaisha suffered severe injuries as a result of attempted rape while she was traveling on a train to Kyiv with her six-year-old son.

Ani Gevorgyan, a correspondent for “Tert am” was covering an assignment at RA national security center. A scuffle outside the center resulted in forceful action from the police force. The journalist found herself in the middle of this and was hit by police. CFWIJ condemns the police action against Ani Gevorgyan whether intentional or not. We ask law enforcement in Yerevan to issue an apology and be more conscious of their actions in the future.

María Fernanda de Luna Ferral, journalist and director of El Quinto Portal de Veracruz online newspaper and the daughter of María Elena Ferral, a prize-winning journalist who was assassinated in March wrote a concerning piece for Mexico News Daily yesterday, proving that the measures of protection for her should be intensified.

Andrea Sahouri was arrested ìn May 2020 while covering a Black Lives Matter protest. Police officials physically assaulted her during the process, even though she was perfectly cooperative during the process. Despite her employer publication registering a protest, and terming this repression of the press, the charges against her have not been culled.
