Gazeteci Ayşe Kara hakkında “örgüt üyeliği” suçlamasıyla açılan davada beraat kararı verildi. Mahkeme, iddia edilen suçun sanık tarafından işlendiğinin sabit olmadığına hükmetti. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) olarak mahkeme kararını memnuniyetle karşılıyoruz. Beraat kararının yargılanan diğer gazeteciler için de emsal teşkil etmesini talep ediyoruz. Gazetecilik suç değildir.
Turkey: CFWIJ Welcomes Journalist Ayşe Kara’s Acquittal
Journalist Ayşe Kara was acquitted on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization". The court ruled the allegations were unclear that the crime was committed by the defendant. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) welcomes the court's verdict. We demand this decision also set a precedent for other journalists on trial. Journalism is not a crime.

Gazeteci Ayşe Kara hakkında, yazdığı haberler ve Özgür Gazeteciler Cemiyeti’ne (ÖGC) üye olduğu gerekçe gösterilerek açılan davanın ilk duruşması Diyarbakır 5’inci Ağır Ceza Mahkemesi’nde görüldü. Mahkeme, Kara hakkında uygulanan yurt dışı yasağının devam etmesine karar verdi. Bir sonraki duruşma 9 Kasım 2021’de görülecek.
Turkey: Women Journalists Are Trying To Be Jailed By The State
A lawsuit was filed against journalist Ayşe Kara over her articles and her membership in the Free Journalists' Association (ÖGC). If convicted, Ayşe will be sentenced to prison for up to 15 years. The first hearing of the case against Ayşe was held today. The court ruled that the international travel ban imposed on Kara should continue. The next hearing will be held on November 9, 2021.

Turkey: An Exemplary Verdict - CFWIJ Welcomes Olcay Büyüktaş Akça's Acquittal
Put on trial for "disclosing the identity of a counterterrorism informant" over a news report, Cumhuriyet Newspaper's Olcay Büyüktaş Akça was acquitted in today’s hearing. Alican Uludağ, the reporter who wrote the article, and Olcay Büyüktaş Akça, the newspaper's managing editor responsible for legal affairs, was charged with "disclosing the identity of an informant" according to Article 6/3 of the Anti-Terror Law and are facing up to three years in prison.

İddianamede gazeteci Kara hakkında ‘örgüt üyeliği’ suçlamasıyla 15 yıla kadar hapis cezası talep edildi. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) olarak haberleri bahane gösterilerek gazeteciler hakkında haksız suçlamalarla açılan davaları kınıyoruz. Gazetecinin derhal beraatını talep ediyoruz.

She was allegedly accused of being affiliated with a terrorist organisation. The Coalition For Women In Journalism condemns the lawsuit against the journalist with unfair accusations. We demand Ayşe’s immediate acquittal.

Kara was taken into custody by police while having dinner at a restaurant with a friend and was taken to the Provincial Security Directorate.
