Sendikalı oldukları için işten atılan Sinbo işçilerinin İstanbul’daki fabrika önünde düzenledikleri basın açıklamasını takip eden gazeteciler Serpil Ünal ve Kardelen Yoğungan gözaltına alındı. Sağlık kontrolleri yapılan gazeteciler ifadeleri alındıktan sonra serbest bırakıldı. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ), Türkiye’de gazetecilere yönelik uygulanan polis şiddetini kınıyor. Türk yetkililerden söz konusu baskılardan vazgeçmelerini talep ediyoruz.

Journalists Serpil Ünal and Kardelen Yoğungan were detained for covering the press statement held by Sinbo workers who were dismissed because of their union membership in Istanbul. The journalists were released after their statements were taken. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) condemns police violence against journalists in Turkey. We demand the Turkish authorities to end these vicious attacks against journalists.
Russia: CFWIJ Condemns The Detainment Of Journalist Katya Arenina
Journalist Katya Arenina was detained by security forces in the region while she was investigating reports about torture in the penal facility present there. While the journalist was released shortly after, this was clearly an attempt to intimidate her and discourage her from pursuing the story.
United States: CFWIJ Condemns The Detention Of Journalists Renée Jones Schneider And Liz Flores
Journalist Renée Jones Schneider was detained alongside her colleague Liz Flores while covering a protest demonstration against the killing of a black man Daunte Wright by a white police officer. According to Jones Schneider she was apprehended despite informing the police that she was part of the press.
Kyrgyzstan: CFWIJ Condemns The Detentions Of Journalists Covering The Elections
Four journalists, including two women journalists, were detained by the police on three separate occasions during their coverage of the national elections. At least one of these reporters was also attacked in the field by a civilian.
Myanmar: CFWIJ Condemns The State Abduction Of Journalist Thin Thin Aung
Journalist Thin Thin Aung was abducted by the state on April 8, and is currently in state custody. Following her detention, the state forces raided her home, seized her belongings, and destroyed all her journalistic work. The state of journalists in Myanmar remains precarious and requires urgent international attention.

Gazeteci Canözer ve gözaltında tutulan 21 kadın polis tarafından tehdit edildi. Temel ihtiyaçlarının karşılanmasına dair büyük sorunlar yaşadığı öğrenildi. Jin News reporter Beritan Canözer, who remains under custody since April 5, is being threatened and mistreated. The journalist and 21 women, who are being detained, were threatened by the police. Reportedly, detainees had also great problems reaching their basic needs. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) condemns these inhumane treatments and demands the immediate release of our colleague Beritan Canözer.

The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) is appalled by this vicious attempt against journalists to intimidate them. We demand the Turkish state to release our colleague immediately.
Belarus: CFWIJ Condemns The Crackdown On Journalists By The State
State officials cracked down on civilians and journalists for organizing a protest rally against President Alexander Lukashenko. Of those arrested, at least five are journalists, most of them women. The continued repression of civil liberties and free press in the country has sent a wave of outrage in the international community.

Saudi Arabia: CFWIJ Condemns The State Persecution Against Nassima Al-Sadah And Calls For Her Release
Columnist and women's rights activist Nassima al-Sadah was detained by authorities on July 30, 2018. Nassima endured threats and assault in prison and was restrained during the interrogation procedure. Starting in February 2019, Nassima was held in solitary confinement for one year. She fiercely campaigned for women's rights, focusing on their participation in politics and an end to the country's ban on women driving. Just a month before her arrest, the ban was lifted. CFWIJ calls for the immediate release of Nassima and other prisoners of conscience. We demand Saudi authorities to drop all charges against Nassima and release her immediately.
China: CFWIJ Condemns The Detention Of Haze Fan Over Vague Accusations
Journalist Haze Fan was detained in December 2020 on suspicion of endangering national security. Haze was escorted from her apartment and currently remains in the custody of Chinese authorities. Fan is a Chinese citizen employed by an American publication house.
