India: Remembering Journalist Gauri Lankesh

The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) pays tribute to journalist Gauri Lankesh on the third year of her brutal murder. Senior journalist and activist Gauri Lankesh was shot dead on September 5, 2017 after unidentified assailants opened fire outside her residence in Bangalore. Known for her fearless and outspoken attitude, Lankesh was the editor of ‘ Gauri Lankesh Patrike’ a weekly Kannada tabloid, besides owning some other publications. In her works, she had often voiced her opinions against communal politics as well as the caste system. She was a staunch critic of right-wing and Hindutva politics as was evident from her works published in different media outlets. In her social media posts, she had also flagged the issue of fake news and propaganda. Gauri was honored with Anna Politkovskaya Award for speaking against right-wing Hindu extremism, campaigning for women's rights and opposing caste based discrimination.

تل أبيب، أسرائيل، 4 سبتمبر،2020— أصيبت الصحفية صافيناز اللوح بجروح بالغة أثر حادث سيارة. ونظرا لعدم استعداد المستشفيات في غزة لعلاج مثل هذه الإصابات توجهت الصحفية عدة مرات إلي نقاط التفتيش للعبور إلي تل أبيت لتلقي العلاج بالأراضي المحتلة ولكن تم إرسالها مرتين من علي الجسر نظرا لعدم وجود تصريح أمني. وتم السماح لصافينار بعبور نقطة التفتيش اليوم فقط بعد العديد من المناشدات للسماح لها بتلقي العلاج المناسب. وتتلقى الصحفية العلاج الأمن بمستشفى المقصد بالأراضي المحتلة.

Israel: Journalist Safinaz Al-Loh's Life Was At Risk Due To Obstinacy At The Israeli Checkpoint

Journalist Safinaz Al-Louh was seriously injured a week ago in a car accident in Gaza. Hospitals in Gaza are not equipped to deal with such serious injuries so Safinaz attempted to cross the checkpoint several times to get medical care in occupied territories. She was sent back from the bridge two times due to a lack of security clearance. Safinaz was only allowed today to cross the checkpoint and receive medical help following several petitions calling for her receiving proper medical treatment. She is now in Al-Makased hospital in the occupied territories.
