Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) olarak gazetecilere karşı uygulanan polis şiddetini kınıyor, meslektaşlarımızın derhal serbest bırakılmalarını talep ediyoruz. Gazetecilik suç değildir.

Dokuz8Haber reporter Ebrar Başyiğit and Artı Gerçek correspondent Yağmur Kaya were detained while covering the detained Boğaziçi University students’ developments at İstanbul Çağlayan Courthouse. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) is devastated by police violence against journalists. We demand the immediate release of our colleagues. Journalism is not a crime.
Bulgaria: CFWIJ Is Alarmed By Another Attack Against Journalist Desislava Panayotova
Desislava Panayotova is a journalist for the online news website DEN News. Unidentified men destroyed the glass screen of Desislava’s car, which was parked outside her residence, on Friday, March 12. The incident is the second of its kind. In December last year, Desislava’s car was shot at, leaving bullets in the windscreen. The attack seems to be a tactic to intimidate and threaten the journalist, as nothing was found missing from the car. CFWIJ condemns the dangerous and desperate attempts to discourage the journalist from doing her job. We demand law enforcement to investigate and apprehend the criminals behind the vandalism.
Malta: CFWIJ Stands With Daphne Caruana Galizia’s Family As Her Murder Case Unfolds
Two brothers directly implicated in the murder of Daphne Caruana Galizia have requested a presidential pardon in exchange for information. The Daphne Caruana Galizia Foundation explicitly stated they would not support any pleas for pardon. CFWIJ stands with Daphne’s family and foundation through this tumultuous time.

Journalist Claire Koç accused supporters of Turkish President Erdogan of sending her death threats online. The attacks reportedly came after the publication of Claire’s book that details her experience in France as a Turkish immigrant. Claire has since filed a criminal complaint against the perpetrators. CFWIJ condemns the threats against the journalist and demands French authorities apprehend the assailants.
Türkiye: CFWIJ, Artı TV Ve Artı Gerçek’i Gazeteci Çalışanlarının Haklarını Korumaya Çağırıyoruz
Turkey: CFWIJ Urges Artı TV And Artı Gerçek Management To Protect Their Journalists' Rights
After the protocol signed with the union, Disk Basın-İş, nine journalists, six of whom are women, of Artı TV and Artı Gerçek, were forced to resign for "not observing the hierarchy" and other excuses. The journalists were also expelled and imposed unpaid leave. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ), condemns the unfair actions against its employees by the media outlets which support the opposition. We call the news organizations to immediately end these practices and protect the rights of their employees.
Türkiye: CFWIJ Gazetecilere Yönelik Yargı Baskısının Sona Erdirilmesini Talep Ediyor
Yeni Yaşam Gazetesi editörü Hatice Şahin’e “silahlı örgüt üyeliği” suçlamasıyla açılan davanın ikinci duruşması bugün Diyarbakır’da görüldü. Mahkeme, gazetecinin yurtdışı yasağının devam etmesine ve gizli tanık ifadelerinde ismi geçen kişilerin dosyalarının araştırılmasına hükmetti. Bir sonraki duruşma 28 Haziran 2021 tarihinde görülecek. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) olarak sürekli ertelenen davaların gazetecileri yıpratma amacı taşıdığına inanıyor, söz konusu sindirme politikası uygulayan yetkilileri kınıyoruz. Gazeteci hakkında derhal beraat kararı verilmesini talep ediyoruz.

We demand Hatice’s acquittal immediately.
United Kingdom: CFWIJ Condemns The On-Field Harassment Faced By Mellisa Reddy
Senior football correspondent for The Independent, Melissa Reddy, shared her harrowing experience with harassment and assault on the field. In her recent article, the journalist recalled how she was subjected to two deplorable incidents in a single day on February 28, 2016, at Wembley stadium. The pervasive objectification of women journalists in sports reporting has long been overlooked. While women journalists usually brush these incidents off, Melissa believes the murder of Sarah Everard proves the need to discuss the issue of women’s safety, journalists included. CFWIJ calls on regulatory bodies to address the discrimination women reporters face in the field to ensure a safe working environment.
France: CFWIJ Condemns The Widespread Sexism Against Women Sports Journalists
In a public appeal, 150 women sports journalists denounced the sexism they face in their line of work. The misogynistic culture around sports worldwide fosters the harassment and hate women journalists face in the field. The appeal issued by French women journalists calls for a unified effort to push back against such misconduct. The Coalition For Women In Journalism supports the women sports reporters and their call for reform in the industry. We urge the French authorities to take action against the mistreatment and ensure a fair work environment free from harassment.

Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) olarak yargının gazetecileri susturmak amacıyla verdiği haksız cezaları kınıyor, Kaya’nın derhal beraat edilmesini talep ediyoruz.
