After Kars Municipality Co-Mayor Ayhan Bilgen was detained as part of the Kobane operation on September 25, a new detention operation was launched in Kars this morning. While many politicians and representatives of non-governmental organizations were detained within the scope of the operation, Democrat News reporter Selda Manduz was also among those detained.

According to the information given by lawyers to The Coalition For Women In Journalism, pre-trial detention period is extended for four days along with a confidentiality order concerning the case. We are utterly concerned about the threats and attacks against opponent women journalists in Turkey and we demand that Selda is released immediately. ...

The Coalition For Women In Journalism is a global organization of support for women journalists.
