The threats came to light through a whistleblower who revealed the nature of the discussions within police offices regarding the ongoing investigations, claiming that retaliatory action is being discussed against the journalist and the lawmaker due to their activism and reportage.

India: CFWIJ is Appalled at The Harassment Incident Faced by Trishna Das
Trishna Das, a freelance journalist was reportedly harassed by a group of people who appeared to be transgenders. The incident took place in a bus when she was travelling to Goalpara, in Assam on September 13. Trishna shared the disturbing details in a Facebook post. She was verbally abused and threatened with death. When she tried to record the scene, one person spat on her face which was extremely offensive and concerning given the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The CFWIJ demands police take action against the perpetrators and ensure Trisha remains safe.
Northern Ireland: CFWIJ Welcomes The Court Decision Over A Complaint Filed By Patricia Devlin
A police ombudsman upheld a complaint filed by prominent crime reporter Patricia Devlin. The journalist had initiated the case against the Police Service of Northern Ireland for its failure to investigate the online threat against her baby. The police ombudsman concluded the case in Patricia's favour. She said the threat made against the journalist was repulsive and police missed the opportunity to apprehend the suspect. The CFWIJ welcomes the court decision and hopes this will set a new precedent for police to properly investigate the matters that concern women journalists and press freedom.

State authorities searched the apartment of ex-TV broadcaster Katerina Pytleva on September 7. The journalist fled the country earlier this year after facing threats of a possible criminal case against her. The CFWIJ is alarmed by the persistent harassment of women journalists in the country. We have recorded several threats and violations against press freedom, particularly involving women journalists. The mounting threats to journalists under Lukashenko’s regime have created a repressive environment for press freedom. The CFWIJ urges the present government to break this pattern.

Female anchor Beheshta Arghand left Afghanistan due to the deteriorating political conditions in the country. Arghand came into public view after interviewing Maulvi Abdulhaq Hemad, a high ranking Taliban representative earlier in August for TOLO News. The interview got international attention since this was the first time a Taliban representative had given an interview to an Afghan woman journalist.

Susan was fortunate that the fans intervened, otherwise, the situation could have escalated quickly. The CFWIJ demands authorities apprehend the aggressor involved in the incident.
