Legal ordeal for Gazete Yolculuk reporter Buse Söğütlü along with 35 women continues as the trial was adjourned.

The police beat up and physically restrained Jinnews reporter Öznur Değer on Sunday, during protests in Ankara.

Reporters, who were covering protests of Fujimori supporters, were physically assaulted by a group called “La Resistencia”. At least four women journalists were impeded and beaten following the demonstrations. The Coalition For Women In Journalism denounces the vicious attacks against journalists. We demand authorities act to prevent the dissemination of hate speech towards journalists. Journalists must freely do their job without facing any kind of threats.

2020 yılında Gazete Yolculuk muhabiri Buse Söğütlü’nün de aralarında bulunduğu, 8 Mart Feminist Gece Yürüyüşü’ne katılan 35 kişi hakkında açılan davanın ilk duruşması görüldü. The first hearing against 35 people, including reporter Buse Söğütlü, was held in İstanbul. The journalist faces accusations for participating on March 8, International Women’s Day march in 2020. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) urges the authorities once again that journalism is not a crime. We demand Buse’s acquittal immediately.
