Türkiye: CFWIJ, Gazetecilere Yönelik Artan Polis Şiddetini Endişe Verici Buluyor
CFWIJ ve aşağıda imzası bulunanlar, demokratik ve basın özgürlüğünü sayan, koruyan ülke olduğu varsayılan Türkiye’de, gazetecileri doğrudan hedef alan ve sistematik hale gelen polis şiddetine son verilmesini talep ediyoruz. Gazeteciler mesleklerini icra ederken kendilerini hiçbir tehdit altında hissetmemelidir. Basın emekçilerine uygulanan polis şiddeti kabul edilemez.
Turkey: CFWIJ Demands Action To End Police Brutality Against Journalists
The CFWIJ recognizes police violence in Turkey as one of the most urgent issues. Our monitoring and research in the last two years has shown a consistent rise in physical police violence against journalists covering various issues in the country, and particularly a rise in violence against women journalists.
Türkiye: Gazetecilere Uygulanan Polis Şiddetine Son Verilsin
Anayasa Mahkemesi’nden (AYM) çıkan karara rağmen tutukluluğu devam eden Halkların Demokratik Partisi (HDP) milletvekili Faruk Gergerlioğlu’nun tahliye edilmesi için Sincan Cezaevindeki ‘Adalet Nöbeti’ni takip eden gazeteciler Büşra Taşkıran ve Berna Kişin’e polis müdahale etti. Cezaevi önünde haber takibi yapan gazeteciler darp edildi. Gazetecilerin cep telefonları ve ekipmanlarına el konulmak istendi.
Turkey: CFWIJ Demands An End To Police Brutality Against Journalists
Journalists Büşra Taşkıran and Berna Kişin were physically assaulted by the police while covering demonstrations at Sincan Prison demanding the release of The Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Faruk Gergerlioğlu. The police deliberately attacked journalists. Journalists' mobile phones and equipment were sought to be confiscated.
Colombia: CFWIJ Condemns Police Brutality Against Journalists Katy Sánchez And Alexandra Molina
Police viciously attacked Katy Sánchez and Alexandra Molina, reporters of Colombian independent RCN Radio, while they were covering anti-government protests in the capital, Bogota. Security forces impeded journalists from filming the protests and beat them. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) condemns police brutality against journalists. We demand the Colombian authorities conduct a full investigation into the use of disproportionate force and to ensure the safety of journalists. Journalists must freely do their job.

İstanbul Sözleşmesi için Ankara Kadın Platformu'na düzenlediği eyleme yönelik açılan dava öncesi yapılan basın açıklamasını takip eden dört kadın gazeteci, Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü’nün (EGM) yayınladığı genelge gerekçe gösterilerek engellendi. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ), gazetecilere genelge bahane gösterilerek uygulanan baskı ve şiddeti kınıyor. Gazeteciler, kamuoyunu bilgilendirmekle yükümlüdür. Engellenemez.
Turkey: CFWIJ Denounces Police Intervention Against Journalists
Four women journalists were beaten and prevented while covering women’s demonstration in Ankara. The journalists followed the press statement that was made before the trial against the Ankara Women's Platform. 33 women are facing charges over confronting withdrawal of the Istanbul Convention. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) condemns the escalating pressure and violence against journalists using security forces directive as an excuse. Journalists are responsible for informing the public.

Dokuz8Haber muhabiri Fatoş Erdoğan, İstanbul Kadıköy’de takip ettiği protesto sırasında polis tarafından darp edildi. Haber takibi yapması engellendi. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ), olarak gazeteciye yönelik hak ihlallerinde söz konusu polis şiddeti, 2021 yılı içerisinde beşinci saldırı olarak kaydedildi. Koalisyon olarak polis şiddetini kınıyor, güvenlik güçlerini gazetecilere saldırmak yerine güvenliklerini sağlamalarını talep ediyoruz. Gazetecilerin haber yapma hakkı engellenemez.
Turkey: The Fifth Police Attack Against Journalist Fatoş Erdoğan, CFWIJ Strongly Condemns The Police Violence
Dokuz8Haber reporter Fatoş Erdoğan was physically assaulted by the police during the protest she followed in Kadıköy, Istanbul. She was also deliberately prevented from filming the event. Fatoş was physically and verbally attacked for the fifth time as The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) documented. We condemn police violence and demand the security forces ensure the journalists' safety instead of attacking them. Journalists' right to report cannot be avoided.

İstanbul’da İsrail’in Filistin’e yönelik düzenlediği saldırıları protesto eden öğrencileri, eylem sonrası GBT gerekçe göstererek gözaltına alan polis müdahalesini takip eden gazeteciler Derya Saadet ve Fatoş Erdoğan, Emniyet Genel Müdürlüğü (EGM) genelgesi gerekçe gösterilerek polis tarafından engellendi. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ), mesleki faaliyetlerini sürdürmeye çalışan gazetecilere yönelik uygulanan polis şiddetini kınıyor. Türk kolluk güçlerinden gazetecilere saldırmak yerine güvenliğini güvence altına almalarını talep ediyoruz. Hiçbir gazeteci işlerini yaparken engellenemez.
Turkey: Police Intervention Against Journalists, CFWIJ Condemns The Police Attack
Journalists Derya Saadet and Fatoş Erdoğan were prevented by police while covering the student demonstration of Israel strikes. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) condemns police violence against journalists who continue their professions under such difficult conditions. We demand Turkish law enforcement to ensure journalists’ safety. None of the journalists can be prevented from doing their job.
Germany: CFWIJ Condemns The Violent Attack Against Journalists Katherin Grabener And Antonia Yamin
Katherin Grabener and Antonia Yamin associated with Kan News and RTL news network were attacked by demonstrators at a pro-Palestine protest in Berlin on May 15. The news team was recording the demonstration when the fireworks were thrown at them. As the journalist narrated something in Hebrew she was attacked. Protestors threw water bottles and pelted stones at the journalists. They also accused RTL news of propagating fake news and calling them out, to tell the truth. Thankfully the crew was unharmed in the violent attack. CFWIJ stands in solidarity with Antonia and Katherin and offers them our support. We believe that no journalist should be targeted while they are performing their job. We demand Berlin's law enforcement authorities to catch the perpetrators behind this heinous attack against women journalists.
Palestine: CFWIJ Denounces The Attack On Journalist Rama Yousef By Israeli Police
Rama Yousef, a Palestinian journalist based in Jerusalem, was hit in the leg by a rubber bullet deployed by Israeli police on May 18. The journalist was reporting on the protest at Damascus Gate in Jerusalem when she was wounded. She received treatment for her injuries at a local hospital and instructed to rest at home for the next week.
Somalia: CFWIJ Condemns The Police Violence Against Journalist Fardowso Mohamud Sahal
Radio Kulme reporter Fardowso Mohamud Sahal was beaten and attacked by police while covering a protest in Mogadishu on May 16. Her equipment was also confiscated by security forces. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) condemns police violence against Fardowso. The main duty of security forces is to provide a free and safe environment. We demand Somalian officials to ensure journalists’ safety.
Palestine: CFWIJ Condemns The Deliberate Attack Against Journalists
The Israeli forces deliberately targeted Palestinian journalists who cover attacks and violations against Jerusalem and worshipers in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque to cover the latest developments in Palestine. At least 10 journalists, two of whom were women, were injured during the incidents. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) is utterly dismayed by the deliberate and vicious attacks against journalists. We demand the Israel state to end the violence towards Palestinians.
