Germany: CFWIJ Condemns The Violent Attack Against Journalists Katherin Grabener And Antonia Yamin
Katherin Grabener and Antonia Yamin associated with Kan News and RTL news network were attacked by demonstrators at a pro-Palestine protest in Berlin on May 15. The news team was recording the demonstration when the fireworks were thrown at them. As the journalist narrated something in Hebrew she was attacked. Protestors threw water bottles and pelted stones at the journalists. They also accused RTL news of propagating fake news and calling them out, to tell the truth. Thankfully the crew was unharmed in the violent attack. CFWIJ stands in solidarity with Antonia and Katherin and offers them our support. We believe that no journalist should be targeted while they are performing their job. We demand Berlin's law enforcement authorities to catch the perpetrators behind this heinous attack against women journalists.
Germany: CFWIJ Condemns The Police Harassment Against Journalist Kim Winkler
Kim Winkler, a photojournalist based in Berlin, was targeted online by police via Twitter on May 3. CFWIJ is dismayed by the gratuitous targeting of the journalist. We demand Berlin police officials to conduct an inquiry into that matter. It is highly unethical for a public security institution to harass journalists, whether online or in the field.

Liebig34, an “anarcha-queer-feminist” housing project in Berlin, has been cleared of residents following a contentious eviction involving at least 3,000 police officers (with some news channels mentioning 5,000). ‘You can’t evict a movement, you can’t evict a heart!’ was one of the slogans of the protests following the ‘eviction’.
Germany: Rise Of Extreme Right Wing Is A Threat To Women Journalists In The Country
Menace towards journalists in Germany is on the rise with right-wing extremism taking the platform more publicly in the country. PEGIDA (anti-Islamist right-wing movement) has been attacking press since its formation in 2014. During their formation rally, German media were declared as part of the problem by the speakers, labeled as "lying press", which is a directly controlled organ of government, a compliant propaganda tool.

Over 20,000 demonstrators marched through Berlin on August 1, as part of countrywide demonstrations and rallies against state corona measures, to protest the restrictions and hygiene regulations that the government introduced due to the corona pandemic.
