Palestine: CFWIJ Condemns The State Of Israel For Detaining Palestinian Journalists Wahbi Makiya And Zeina Al-Halawani
Israeli forces physically assaulted and arrested two Palestinian journalists in the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood without charge and warrant. Wahbi Makiya and Zeina Al-Halawani were arrested while they were covering the predominantly Palestinian neighborhood in East Jerusalem where the Israeli state intends to enact mass displacements. This is the latest in a series of examples of free press violations that Israeli forces have committed since the beginning of the recent cycle of violence in the region.
Palestine: CFWIJ Stands In Solidarity With Photojournalist Samar Abu Elouf Amidst Israeli Airstrikes.
Gaza-based photojournalist Samar Abu Elouf was forced to evacuate her family after an Israeli missile struck her neighbor’s home. Samar is just one example of the thousands of Palestinians displaced by the relentless Israeli air raids. Thankfully, the journalist and her family were able to escape the attack unscathed. Despite the destruction, Samar continues to document the ongoing conflict through her photographs. CFWIJ condemns the brutal bombardments in Gaza, and we stand in solidarity with Samar.
Palestine: CFWIJ Is Appalled At The Violence Israeli Forces Are Enacting On The Journalists Covering The Crisis In The Region
On Monday, Israeli forces bombed and damaged the offices of "Filastiniat" association and its affiliated news agency "Nawa". Since no prior warning was given before the attack, it resulted in two civilian casualties including one child. Palestine: CFWIJ Is Horrified At The Killing Of Journalist Reema Saad And Her Family During IDF Bombardment
Several sources in Gaza who spoke to CFWIJ confirm the killing of Palestinian journalist Reema Saad in a bombing. Reema was killed in her apartment alongside her children and husband when Israeli forces attacked civilian residences in the city of Gaza on Tuesday night. Sources who knew Reema, and had worked alongside her also told the CFWIJ that she was four month pregnant at the time. We are both heartbroken and horrified with her loss.
Acceleration of these events resulted after several days of Israeli armed forces targeting Palestinian civilians following the expulsions orders of Palesitinian families from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood.
Palestine: CFWIJ Condemns The Deliberate Attack Against Journalists
The Israeli forces deliberately targeted Palestinian journalists who cover attacks and violations against Jerusalem and worshipers in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque to cover the latest developments in Palestine. At least 10 journalists, two of whom were women, were injured during the incidents. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) is utterly dismayed by the deliberate and vicious attacks against journalists. We demand the Israel state to end the violence towards Palestinians.

Riwa Murshid works for a famous Arabic news network, Raseef22. The journalist was on assignment to shoot at the coastal enclave’s border, adjacent to Israel, with other colleagues. The media crew was not new to the location and had permission to shoot in that area. But as the journalist was wrapping up the shoot, she and her colleagues were approached by two members of a militant-separatist organization.
