Myanmar: CFWIJ Demands Myanmar To End Police Violence Against Journalists Immediately
Two female reporters were detained and released shortly after while covering the anti-coup developments in Monywa. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) is utterly dismayed by deliberate police violence against journalists in Myanmar. We call upon the law enforcement authorities to provide a safer environment to journalists and to respect press freedom. The Myanmar crisis needs to be addressed urgently by all stakeholders in the country to end this curb on critical voices.
Myanmar: CFWIJ Condemns The Unjustified Detention Of Kay Zon Nwe
Multimedia journalist Kay Zon Nwe was detained while following an anti-coup protest held in Sanchaung, Yangon on Saturday noon. The reporter was live-streaming from the sight of protest where the police cracked down on protestors. The whereabouts of Kay Zone remains unknown after the detention. Several demonstrations were held in different parts of Yangon, the biggest city of Myanmar. Security forces were deployed in heavy numbers. In videos on the Internet, soldiers are seen running after media workers, also beating and dragging protesters towards police vans. CFWIJ condemns this police brutality and demands law enforcement authorities in Myanmar to release the journalist. The Myanmar crisis needs to be addressed urgently by all stakeholders in the country to end this curb on critical voices.

Anayasa Mahkemesi (AYM), haber takibi yaparken polis şiddetine maruz kalan gazeteci Beyza Kural Yılancı’nın kötü muamele gördüğüne kanaat getirerek 15 bin TL manevi tazminat ödenmesine karar verdi. Turkey: CFWIJ Welcomes Constitutional Court Decision Of Journalist Beyza Kural
The Constitutional Court (AYM) ruled journalist Beyza Kural Yılancı, who was subjected to police violence while covering the demonstration, was mistreated and decided 15 thousand Turkish Liras (TL) in moral compensation. AYM also concluded that the journalist’s freedom of expression was violated. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) welcomes the court verdict. It is the fundamental right of journalists to follow and cover the news. Cannot be prevented.
Belarus: CWFIJ Condemns The Detention Of Journalists Alina Skrabunova And Aliaksandr Sidareuski.
The police arrested journalists Alina Skrabunova and Aliaksandr Sidareuski who are affiliated with Belsat TV on Friday. They were released later in the day, however, a summon from the courts was sent out to both of them.

Newspaper Alınteri reporter Zarife Çamalan, who followed the press briefing of the United Struggle Forces (BMG) establishment on February 4, was released after four days of detention. The court ruled a travel ban abroad and outside of her town premises against the journalist and released her conditionally.
