We support Allison for confronting Lucido by writing about the harassment she was subjected to. Swift action must be taken against the culprit so that his actions may not embolden others.

Journalist Daria Sivukhina was fired from her job on the orders of the mayor. The mayor’s office, it appears, created several professional hurdles for Daria, in retribution for Daria’s support of the mayor’s rival candidate. The issue was further aggravated when a humiliating video of the mayor was telecasted on national television through the broadcast network that employed Daria.

Burundi: Charges On Journalists In The Lead-Up To Elections Intensify Concerns About Press Freedom
The Coalition For Women In Journalism is concerned about the charges placed on Burundi journalists Agnès Ndirubusa and Christine Kamikazi, along with their two male colleagues and driver. The journalists were arrested in Musigati District while reporting on an armed attack by anti-government rebels. We are extremely disappointed in the justice system of Burundi and demand their release on an immediate basis.
