Aleksandr Lukashenko, who has ruled the country with an iron fist for 26 years, declared an early victory in the presidential elections held on August 9 in Belarus. Maldives: Newsroom Editor Who Sexually Assaulted A Woman Journalist Might Face Revocation Of Awards
On August 10, 73 journalists signed a petition against Adam Haleem, an award-winning editor of Avas Online, who is accused of workplace sexual misconduct. The petition has been submitted to authorities. Adam was previously arrested in 2014, when he was caught on CCTV grabbing a female employee who fell on a flight of stairs before another employee intervened to stop the incident. But he was later released.
