United Kingdom: CFWIJ Pays Tribute To Young Journalist Natasha Bateman
Location: United Kingdom
Date: May 22, 2020
CFWIJ is saddened to hear the news of talented BBC journalist Natasha Bateman’s death on May 24.
Bateman was a 32 years old producer and presenter with BBC Digital Current Affairs, telling people’s stories from all around the UK. She was described as fierce with an infectious spirit by her friends.
As a journalist, she was fierce, and went for stories with all guns blazing. As a businesswoman, she worked to make an impact - to empower women. As a friend, her spirit was infectious. She made you be better. That was, and always will be our Tash 🤍https://t.co/dPJpW1mIsP

We would like to send our sincerest condolences to her family and colleagues.
The CFWIJ strongly condemns the police brutality against journalists. We demand the immediate return of the press cards seized from the security forces. Policies to intimidate journalists should be abandoned, and journalism should be practiced under the criteria of freedom of the press.
