The trial of the lawsuit filed against journalist Sabiha Temizkan on charges of 'propagandizing a terrorist organization' was postponed.

The first hearing of the lawsuit filed against journalist Sabiha Temizkan with the charge of 'Propagandizing a terrorist organization' was held at İstanbul 35th High Criminal Court. Temizkan was not able to attend the hearing due to her health problems, while her attorney Zelal Pelin Doğan was ready at court.

Lawyer Doğan requested that the defense of Temizkan be postponed to the next session.

Accepting the request, the court board postponed the hearing to September 22.

Sabiha Temizkan is not the only woman journalist in Turkey who is facing “terror propaganda” charges due to social media activity. Last week Beritan Canözer was convicted on similar charges.

CFWIJ condemns the pressure imposed upon journalists by legal authorities and follows each case with great concern.
