Turkey: CFWIJ Is Saddened By The Loss Of Journalist Sevim Gözay

Journalist Sevim Gözay, who was fighting for cancer for a while, died at the age of 48. The Coalition For Women In Journalism mourns the loss of Sevim. She will be always remembered for her dedication and contributions to Turkey’s arts and culture news. We share our deepest condolences to Sevim’s family, friends and loved ones.
According to Gazete Duvar, Sevim passed away at 07:30 AM in İstanbul Kartal Dr. Lütfi Kırdar Training and Research Hospital.
Sevim Gözay has appeared in many productions since 1993. The journalist wrote many articles in the fields of culture, art and life. Sevim appeared on the TV in early2000s and received awards with the cinema programs called "Studio: Cinematic Orange" and "Cosmopolis".
She made many productions on national channels such as Kanal D, TV8, CNN Türk, ATV, Show TV, Habertürk, Sky 360, TRT. Her career started as an assistant in “Dr Stress” and “Canlan Biraz” broadcasts. Her career followed with various TV programmes called “IstanbulART”, "The Color of the City", "Some Like It Warm" and "Artist".

BirGün Newspaper writer Timur Akkur said “Sevim… My dear friend, you passed away and left us too early. You will be missed with your endless energy, a perfect intelligence, unique friendship ... " announced her death.
Yekta Kopan, the voice actor said, “I'm very, very sorry. There is no word to say, nor the courage to say goodbye to Sevim..."
Journalist Çiğdem Toker shared her condolences, With the sudden loss of the people we love, the phrase "following you" becomes so overwhelming. We wrote for a while in the same newspaper. During the Gezi Park unrest, the administration of the government, which took over Akşam Newspaper, put an end to its bright and colourful writings. There is no justice.”
