Haziran 2019’da, Şahinbey Belediyesindeki yolsuzluğu "Şahinbey'de ihale oyunu" başlıklı haberiyle ortaya çıkaran Cumhuriyet Gazetesi yazarı Hazal Ocak’a 20 bin TL manevi tazminat talebiyle dava açılmıştı. Davanın bugün görülen üçüncü duruşmasında mahkeme, davanın reddine karar verdi. Gazetecilikte Kadın Koalisyonu (CFWIJ) kararı memnuniyetle karşılıyor. Yargı mekanizmasını gazetecilerin temel hak ve özgürlüklerini savunmaya çağırıyoruz. Koalisyon olarak tüm gazetecilerin beraatını talep ediyoruz.

In June 2019, Cumhuriyet Newspaper reporter Hazal Ocak was sued for 20 thousand TL in financial compensation. The lawsuit followed her article titled ‘Tender Game in Şahinbey’ that exposed the corruption in Şahinbey Borough Council. The third hearing of the trial against the reporter held yesterday in İstanbul. The court dismissed the case against Hazal. The Coalition For Women In Journalism (CFWIJ) welcomes the court verdict. We urge the judiciary to stand for the fundamental freedoms and rights of reporters. Therefore, we demand all journalists’ acquittal.

12 Haziran 2019’da Cumhuriyet gazetesinde yayımlanan Şahinbey Belediyesi’ndeki yolsuzlukları ortaya seren “Şahinbey’de ihale oyunu” başlıklı haberi nedeniyle Hazal Ocak hakkında 20 bin TL manevi tazminat talepli dava açılmış ve bugün ilk duruşma görülecekti. Ancak tarafların mazeretli olarak katılmadığı duruşma 25 Kasım’a ertelendi.

On June 12, 2019, a lawsuit was filed against Hazal Ocak with a claim of 20 thousand TL for non-pecuniary damages due to her article in Cumhuriyet Newspaper titled "Tender game in Şahinbey", which revealed the corruption in Şahinbey Municipality. The first hearing was to be held today. However, the hearing, in which the parties did not participate with an excuse, was postponed to 25 November.
