On Monday, November 25, Women Press Freedom is proud to join Journalists for Human Rights and the Embassy of the Netherlands to Canada for a powerful live podcast recording in Toronto, addressing violence against women journalists globally.
This special event, held as part of the #16DaysofActivism against Gender-Based Violence, brings together three incredible voices advocating for press freedom and gender justice.
Lisa LaFlamme (Moderator)
With over 35 years at the forefront of Canadian journalism, Lisa LaFlamme has reported on major global events, from conflict zones to political shifts worldwide. The first woman to anchor CTV National News, Lisa served as chief news anchor and senior editor for over a decade, earning numerous accolades. She serves as an ambassador for Journalists For Human Rights, supports Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan, and sits on the board of the Samara Centre for Democracy.
Kiran Nazish
Founding director of the Coalition For Women In Journalism and seasoned journalist, Kiran has reported on conflicts, human rights and press freedom issues across the Middle East, South Asia, and Latin America. Her leadership at CFWIJ has been instrumental in advocating for the safety and rights of women in media.
Hanna Liubakova
Hanna Liubakova is an award-winning Belarusian journalist and non-resident fellow at the Atlantic Council, dedicated to advancing independent journalism and mentoring emerging reporters. Hanna began her career as a correspondent and TV presenter at Belsat, Belarus's only independent TV channel, and has reported from regions including the UK, Belgium, Poland, France, and Chechnya.
