Gaza: WPF Condemns Killing of Ahlam Al Nafed, 23rd Woman Journalist Killed by Israeli Bombing

January 14, 2025 - Gaza, Gaza City

Israeli airstrike kills journalist and photographer Ahlam Al Nafed while she was walking to Al Shifa Hospital on January 14, 2025. For 100 day she reported from the frontlines, contributing to Drop Site News and others. Her documentation ensured the world saw the horrors at the besieged Indonesian Hospital.

Ahlam’s death marks the 28th woman journalist killed since October 7, 2023, and the 23rd woman journalist killed by Israeli airstrike in Gaza. She leaves behind her sister, Reem, and a legacy of fearless reporting.

Women Press Freedom condemns the ongoing killings of press workers in Gaza. The bombardment must end, and every death must be investigated. We demand Israeli authorities cease their attacks on Gaza and allow independent international investigators to enter the Strip to investigate the killings of journalists. The horrors must end before there are no voices left to document the realities on the ground.

Our heartfelt condolences go to Ahlam’s family, colleagues, and loved ones.
