The 39-year-old Middle East expert and advocate for the Palestinian cause was discovered by friends on her residence's roof terrace. She was reportedly working on a documentary about Israel's attacks on Gaza.

The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear and demand a thorough investigation. While an autopsy revealed no immediate evidence of foul play, toxicology results are pending. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Marine's family and loved ones and urge authorities to conduct a full and transparent inquiry into her untimely passing.

In 2024, Women Press Freedom has documented the deaths of at least 24 women journalists, including 10 Palestinian reporters killed during Israeli attacks on Gaza. The international community must act urgently to protect journalists, who face growing threats for reporting the truth.
